Do these sea creatures go well together? or will they get smoked?

Question by Gabrielle: Do these sea creatures go well together? or will they get smoked?
I’m thinking of getting a fish tank, therefore, I am scouting my options, finding which sorts of fish appeal to me. I have chosen several types and because of my inherent lack of experience, I was wondering if someone with considerable knowledge on the subject could help me out.
The breeds I chose are the following:
~ crabs
~ corydoras catfish
~kribensis cichlid
~ jack dempsey cichlid
~livebearer
~guppies
~white cloud mountain minnows
~killies
~three stripe cory

Would these choices work in an eight gallon tank?

NOOOOO lol. wayyy to many fish for an 8 gallon you would need at least a 50 gallon and then you still may have problems with agression. Also because that would stunt the fishes growth and slowly kill them

Q&A: Can these fish be put together?

Question by Turkeylegs: Can these fish be put together?
I am getting a bigger tank. I currently have 5 platies and a panda garra which are going to be moved into it. I am also looking to get a few more fish. I don’t want to hear anything about the 1″ per gallon guideline here, which is why I haven’t mentioned the size of my new tank because I know they’re the only answers I will get which isn’t what I’m looking for!

All I want to know is if platies, panda garras, dwarf gouramis, pearl gouramis, killifish and angelfish will be ok together or if there will be any problems. Also are any of those likely to harm my panda garra? And are there any other pretty fish which could be added to the mix without any problems?
I am not saying the size of the tank because I am not asking if I can put them in there or not! …I just want to know if there would be any problems with any of them if I did! I just want to know if they’re compatible or not!

Yes they should not have any problems. As long as you don’t put a betta in with them. I have a lot of those fish and they are together and nothing happens. It should be fine!

What size tank are we talking here?

“Tetra” is a very broad term – what species were you thinking?

Guppies are entirely peaceful but liable to be fin nipped and bullied by fin nippers and larger fish.

Bala Sharks get 12″ and need at least a 6ft long tank and to be in groups of 4 or more, they cannot be kept with smaller fish like small Tetras and Guppies, they may well get munched by the Bala.

Killifish – again, another broad term, what species were you thinking? This a broad family with many different fish, some needing quite specific tank set ups or to be in species tanks with their own species only.

Would any of these fish get together?

Question by swimchik4life: Would any of these fish get together?
Nothobranchius killifish
The Kuhli Loach
Cherry Barb
Swordtail Fish?

I am considering a 10 gallon tank, preferbly the All Glass Aquarium 10 Gallon Hexagon Black Tank (14 x 12 x 18″), Any advice and fish help would be great!
Would a Bleeding heart tetra work?

kuhli loach is actually a suggest in my other answer :) however you’ll need 4 of them and since it’s a hex tank you’ll want to stock a little lighter… I think 5 cherry barbs and 4 kuhli loaches would be a nice choice for your tank.

the swordtail would work if you would go with 1-2 male swordtails and 4 kuhli loaches, but ask your pet store if they keep them in brackish water, if they do don’t get them.
I’d avoid the killifish though, they’re not great beginner fish, however if you can find the type you mentioned they are one of the more peaceful ones, so sure. but remember 1 male 2 females… they should be fie with kuhlis.

I wouldn’t recommend bleeding heart tetras as they get a little big.

Q&A: Do Killifish and Rainbow Fish do well together?

Question by Kelsey: Do Killifish and Rainbow Fish do well together?
I have a Spare 10 gal. or 20 gal. tank and I want to know weather Killifish and Rainbow Fish do well together. They are both beautiful fish and I think that they would to very well together color-wise.

Answer by Gary C
The problem with your question is that both killifish and rainbow fish are very broad categories, with hundreds of species in each group.
But these fishes actually have many similarities (although they are not closely related), and if you pick the more peaceful species of each, and smaller species (since your tank is not large), they should do all right together.
